HONORING MR. ABDULLAH R. MUHAMMAD ON THE PUBLICATION OF HIS BOOK
“THE MAKING OF DELAWARE ONE DAY AT A TIME

WHEREAS, The Making of Delaware One Day At A Time was authored and published by a Delaware resident,
educator, and historian, Abdullah R. Muhammad, who has captured the essence of Delaware’s recorded
history from 1608 to 2007; and

WHEREAS, The Making of Delaware One Day At A Time is the first history book of Delaware to give a daily log
of historical events for each day of the calendar year, as well as four centuries of recorded chronological
history; and

WHEREAS, The Making of Delaware One Day At A Time provides vivid color photographs, maps, and illustra-
tions, which allows this Delaware history to come alive; and

WHEREAS, The Making of Delaware One Day At A Time, which contains over 1,000 concise facts about the
noteworthy, infamous, and little-known facts of the people, places, and events of Delaware’s glorious past, that
can be read as a leisurely read, a quick topic search, or as a reputable reference source, that is a compen-
dium of Delaware’s major historical writings; and

WHEREAS, The Making of Delaware One Day At A Time has become a user-friendly quick reference, cross-
reference, and resource at nearly all of the state’s major research centers, libraries, schools, as well as the
ordinary family book collection that can be read and understood by students as young as 9 years old and all
those that aspire to learn of Delaware’s historic beginnings and its contribution to building our nation; and

WHEREAS, The Making of Delaware One Day At A Time’s goal is to enlighten native Delawareans, new-
comers, visitors, teachers, researchers, history buffs, collectors of Delawareana, and docents to expose and
expand their appreciation of Delaware’s recorded history and its rich,  varied, and well-maintained historical
sites, museums, and other places of interest.

Whereas, Wilmington City Council wishes to recognize ABDULLAH R. MUHAMMAD for his outstanding work
on his publication,
"The Making of Delaware One Day At A Time;" and

Whereas, Mr. Muhammad, a resident of Wilmington, is also an educator and historian. His book covers
Delaware's recorded history from 1608 to 2007. The book gives a daily log of historical events and chronological
history and includes photographs, maps, and illustrations; and

Whereas, "The Making of Delaware One Day At A Time" captures facts of the people, places, and
events and the famous and not so famous. The book serves a wide range of age groups and reading levels for one
as young as nine years old through adulthood; and

Whereas, The purpose of the book is to enlighten native Delawareans, Delaware residents and those interested
in Delaware's rich history.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved By The Council of The City of Wilmington, That Wilmington City
Council further commends Mr. Muhammad for his tireless work and helping to keep Delaware's rich history alive.

who has been honored by both the Wilmington City Council and the New Castle
County Council, has now been honored by the State House of Representatives.  As
